The business was originally formed as a cloth manufacturer and converter in 1903 under the name Bulloch, Cowell & Company.
In the 1960s it became a limited company and entered the Scottish gift and textile market. Soon after the brand Glen Appin of Scotland was launched and all our products have been sold under this name since 1968. In February 2014 the company name was changed to Glen Appin of Scotland Limited.
Glen Appin of Scotland designs its own products and arranges their manufacture. The company supplies retailers in Scotland, the UK and around the world with Scottish clothing, textiles and gifts. Our distinctive Highland Cow logo can be seen in a wide variety of retail outlets from small village shops to castles. The company is recognised as a supplier of high quality products backed by first class service.
We are well-known for our Harris Tweed bags and accessories and traditional tartan children's clothing but we offer a very varied product range which includes stoneware, napkins, pet products and the largest selection of Scottish tea towels.
Glen Appin of Scotland only uses genuine Harris Tweed for all our tweed products.
Our very popular range of Harris Tweed bags and complimentary purses has been enlarged for 2014. New styles, including a Mini Bag and Backpack, and new Tweeds are available. During the year we will be adding further new Tweeds on limited edition bags.
We offer a good selection of Gents and Ladies Harris Tweed hats and caps. All are made in the UK to our own designs. Our new Tweed hats have moleskin trim.
We have also introduced new Harris Tweed and velvet cushions in two sizes and four Tweeds, new Ladies and Gents Harris Tweed and leather gloves and we have produced a small run of children's Harris Tweed and cord pinafore dresses and skirts in two Tweeds for ages 1, 2, 3 and 4 years.
